My role involved reconciling payments between farmers, distributors, and MINAGRI, conducting site visits to verify reimbursements, and compiling reports on unpaid fertilizer debts. I worked closely with districts to recover unpaid debts from farmers, involving negotiation and communication skills. I visited districts to reconcile their fertilizer debts and collaborated with districts and cooperatives to track debtors and plan recovery strategies. I verified payments for fertilizers received by farmers’ groups and adjusted our strategies based on the impact of our services. We achieved a 30% debt reimbursement rate, and the remaining debtors signed commitments. I visited all district headquarters, gaining a comprehensive understanding of Rwanda’s agricultural landscape.

- As a District Field Agent at USAID/PSDAG and IFDC-PREFER, I provided training, mobilization, extension, facilitation, identification, liaison, advisory, and reconciliation services across several districts in Rwanda. I taught farmers about kitchen garden and compost construction, and facilitated the expansion of an efficient fertilizer and seed distribution system. I ensured timely availability of improved inputs to farmers and reconciled payments. I recruited 36 new agro-dealers, helped women cooperatives and youth associations join the Twigire Muhinzi program, and formed 2,284 TWIGIRE MUHINZI groups. The use of fertilizers and improved seeds in Burera district increased from 25kgs/Ha to 36Kgs/Ha.
